An Aesop's Fable


At one time the Fox and the Stork were on going to terms and appeared to be great companions. So the Fox welcomed the Stork to supper, and for a joke put nothing before her except for some soup in an extremely shallow dish. This the Fox could without much of a stretch lap up, yet the Stork

could just wet the end of her long bill in it, and left the supper as eager as when she started. "I am sad," said the Fox, "the soup is not to your preferring."

"Ask don't apologize," said the Stork. "I trust you will give back this visit, and come and eat with me soon." So a day was selected when the Fox ought to visit the Stork; however when they were situated at table all that was for their supper was contained in a since quite a while ago necked jug with a slender mouth, in which the Fox couldn't embed his nose, so whatever he could figure out how to do was to lick the outside of the container.
