The Goose With the Golden Eggs Fable

The Goose With the Golden Eggs

An Aesop's Fable

One day a kinsman heading off to the home of his Goose found there an egg all yellow and sparkling. When he took it up it was as substantial as lead and he was going to discard it, since he thought a trap had been played upon him. However, he took it home on doubts, and soon found to his pleasure that it was an egg of immaculate gold. Each morning the same thing happened, and he soon got to be rich by offering his eggs. As he developed rich he developed avaricious; and speculation to get on the double all the gold the Goose could give, he murdered it and opened it just to discover nothing.
